You may have seen a friend post a photo after a tough workout with a “feeling proud” icon. Or you’ve seen your friend check in at a coffee shop “drinking an iced coffee.”
In the last year, people shared more than 5 billion status updates that included these kinds of feelings and activities, sparking conversations with friends in a more visual way.
Today, we’re making those conversations quicker and easier by introducing a new way to share and discover music, TV and movies.
When writing a status update – if you choose to turn the feature on – you’ll have the option to use your phone’s microphone to identify what song is playing or what show or movie is on TV.
That means if you want to share that you’re listening to your favorite Beyoncé track or watching the season premiere of Game of Thrones, you can do it quickly and easily, without typing.
Here’s how it works: If you’ve turned the feature on, you’ll see an audio icon moving on the screen when you write a status update. If the feature finds a match, you can then choose to add the song, TV show or movie to your post.
Like with any post, you choose who can see it. You can also turn the feature off at any time by clicking the audio icon in the top right of the screen.
If you leave the feature on, you will see the audio icon move and attempt to detect a match when you’re writing a status update. No sound is stored and you’ll always get to choose whether you post to your friends.
If you share music, your friends can see a 30-second preview of the song. For TV shows, the story in News Feed will highlight the specific season and episode you’re watching, so you can avoid any spoilers and join in conversations with your friends after you’ve caught up.
This feature will be available on Android and iOS in the US in the coming weeks. To learn more, visit our Help Center.

Google is crossing off a major complaint about Hangouts this week: the messaging app will finally merge your SMS and Hangouts conversations. Users can pick between Hangouts and SMS when sending a given message, but that's it. There's no option to use Hangouts with SMS as a fallback option, which is the approach Apple takes with iMessage.
Google also promises that "different message types will be easy to tell apart in the conversation," but it's not as obvious as the company lets on. Your received messages all look the same, with only a small "via SMS" label below texted replies. Sent messages easier to tell apart with a glance; they're green when you're sending regular Hangouts messages, and white when sent as an SMS message. Users that don't like the merged view can revert back to the old style to keep things separate.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has already been rumored to include a 4K display and a possible Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset however, a latest report hints that it might also feature a remarkable flexible display.
Shortly after a Samsung representative stated that the Galaxy Note 4 will feature a “new form factor”, the Korean Media reported that the device will be the first smartphone to feature the “Youm” flexible display by Samsung. To add more to the flame, the same source, citing industry insiders, said that the screen will be three sided. But what is the use of a three sided screen? Well, it could be used to display various notifications such as messages, reminders or even the time.

All those Websites needing new passwords to protect yourself against Heartbleed attacks may look daunting in LastPass' Security Checker, but it's a heck of a lot easier than looking for them by hand.
LastPass has always been an excellent Web browser password management program. In Heartbleed's ugly security aftermath, the company's new Heartbleed-aware Security Check feature turns it into a great password manager.
You see one of the most annoying things about trying to protect yourself against sites that have potentially left you open to Heartbleed-based attacks is that it's not enough for a site to patch its OpenSSL software. It must also update its Secure-Socket Layer (SSL) certificates. Until both steps have been taken it's still won't be safe to update your password.

Outlook Web App for Android will help your smartphone fit in at work
3/31/2014 5:19PM by Jon Fingas
It's easy to find Android phones that can handle the Exchange-based email you often find in the workplace, but they don't always support all the latest features. That won't be a problem for much longer, though, as Microsoft has just revealed plans to bring Outlook Web App to Google's platform later this year. Much like its iOS counterpart from 2013, the Android release should let you take advantage of Office 365 technology that might not make it into third-party email software. The app may not be all that exciting by itself, but it could be the key to using your preferred phone for work instead of having to switch to company-approved hardware.
